We reached out to Sony and they confirmed that "PSN games will be discounted. We will be issuing final pricing details shortly."

Keep checking back to IGN for the pricing structure once it's revealed.

Update (10/11/11): Andriasang is now reporting that official Japanese pricing has been released for Uncharted: Golden Abyss, confirming that downloads will be cheaper than retail titles in Japan.

The game will cost 5,980 yen (roughly $77.00) at retail, while the downloadable version will cost 4,900 yen (roughly $63.00). Keep in mind that these games will likely be cheaper when they're released in North America, though no official pricing has been announced.

This pricing scheme has currently only been confirmed in Japan, and Sony hasn't released any pricing information for North America.

Original story follows:

According to a post on Andriasang, Square Enix has officially announced the Japanese pricing scheme for the Vita launch title Army Corps of Hell. The package version will be 4,980 Japanese Yen and the download version will be 3,990 Japanese Yen.

While there's no evidence that this pricing structure will be reflected in other Vita games, it does indicate that there might be a discount for consumers that opt for the downloadable version. This is not always the case on the U.S. PlayStation Network when it comes to downloadable PSP games, for example, as most downloads mirror the price of their package version. This could be a change Sony is moving towards -- unless this is specific to Square Enix's pricing.

Andriasang also confirms that the package version of Army Corps of Hell will not require an additional memory card to save data -- player progress can be saved directly onto the game card.

The PlayStation Vita, Sony's upcoming portable platform, launches on December 17th in Japan. No U.S. release date has been announced.
