PlayStation Vita Sales Keep Getting Worse in Japan

PlayStation Vita Sales Keep Getting Worse in Japan

And no Vita games are in the top 20 sellers.

The poor sales of the PlayStation Vita have been well documented here on video game world -- from the lackluster launch figures to the weekly updates. Today, we have another update from the Land of the Rising Sun, and things aren't looking any better.

Andriasang reports that the PlayStation Vita sold 15,219 units last week -- down more than 3,000 units from the week before. This means that last week in Japan, the 3DS, PlayStation 3 and PSP outsold Sony's slick new system.

The sales decline shouldn't shock you. New Vita games haven't really hit Japan since the system launched, and Monster Hunter 3G on 3DS is eating up people's portable time. Sony itself has said that it's too early to worry about the handheld.

"One of the things we have learned over a long period of time is that whether it is PS1, PS2, PSP or PS3, it is dangerous to the point of impossible to take any experience from the Japanese market and try and extrapolate it, and propose upon what will happen in Europe or North America," said Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President and CEO Jim Ryan. "It is just way too early to make any conclusions."

What do you think of the PlayStation Vita's first full month in Japan? Have the sales there swayed your opinion of the device? Let us know in the comments below.
