App Store Update: January 26

All of today's important App Store launches, price drops, and updates – in one place.

January 26, 2012

Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention.

Game Debuts

Pocket Ninjas ($0.99)
Pocket Ninjas is a little bit like Fruit Ninja, but with far more violence. Fun!

Paper Monsters ($0.99)
Crescent Moon's gorgeous and highly-anticipated 2D platformer is now available.

Zombie Bunnies ($0.99)
The latest title from Squirmee developer Lavafish is now available. Zombie Bunnies puts a unique spin on 2D scrolling shooters.

Hank Hazard ($0.99)
Hank Hazard is a physics puzzler, like many that have come before it. Its unique goal system and great puzzle/gadget variety help it stand out from the pack.

Dungeon Crawlers ($1.99)
Dungeon Crawlers is a 3D turn-based… dungeon crawler. The game features a surprising amount of story, and is jam-packed with jokes and pop culture references.

Sam & Max Beyond Time & Space Ep 1 ($6.99)
It took Telltale a while, but the company has finally started releasing more Sam & Max episodes on iOS. An exclusive "Whack da Ratz" minigame is included.

Baseball Superstars 2012 (Free)
Gamevil's ever-popular arcade baseball franchise is back. Note that the game is free-to-play, but monetized via the purchase of special boosts and bonuses.

RaonDefenders ($2.99)
Another Korean import, RaonDefenders seems like a unique combination of RPG, tower defense, and realtime strategy.

One Epic Game ($0.99)
One Epic Game from Chillingo and Grip Digital presents a tongue-in-cheek look at 2D action games. As its App Store description puts it, "Run! Jump! Shoot! Kill!"

Price Drops

Stop Those Fish (Free)
Just one week after its $1.99 debut, this zany "fish dynamite" title has gone free for a day.

Udder Chaos (Free)
Udder Chaos may not be the best game on the app store, but we like the name (yay puns!) and we like the art style. The premise? Shoot aliens and protect your cows!

Time Ducks (Free)
Frogger combined with… Braid? Sure, why not? As App Store reviewer spencekarl put it: "So strange, so fast, so fun!"

Updates

Where's My Water?
Cranky's Story, a new $0.99 "game within a game" has been released. 54 levels starring Swampy's nemesis.

Rage HD
For $0.99 players can now buy two more episodes of iOS Rage action. Weapon and player models are now higher res as well.

Kingdom Rush
Game Center achievements and a brand-new bonus stage are both now available.
