January 26, 2012
Nintendo
highlighted many things during its latest investors meeting, but buried
in its presentation was a reference to a brand new game. Company
president Satoru Iwata revealed a new 2D Mario game would be coming to
the Nintendo 3DS during its next fiscal year (April 2012 through March
2013). No other details were provided.
Also due next fiscal year (at least in Japan) are Fire Emblem, Animal
Crossing, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2, Mario Tennis, Heroes of Ruin,
Dragon Quest Monsters, Bravely Default Flying Fairy and several other
Japan-centric titles. Iwata noted he plans the 3DS to receive titles
"without any extreme interruptions" and noted "a number of titles
unannounced from third-party developers" were on the way.
Nintendo also highlighted a number of other titles due in Japan by the
end of March, including Kingdom Hearts 3D, Metal Gear Solid 3D, Tekken
3D Prime Edition, Kid Icarus Uprising, Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
and more.
